Recent engagements include directing A Talent to Amuse–An Evening of Noel Coward at the New England Conservatory; Dido and Aeneas at Brevard Music Center and a return to New York University to direct An Evening of One-Act Operas, which in the past has included performances of operas using her libretto translations of The Audition and The Finishing School by Franz von Suppé and Jacques Offenbach’s The Two Blind Beggars.
Ms. Collins also has a distinguished history with Sarasota Opera serving as the stage director for Sarasota Opera’s 2010 Winter Opera Festival production of Carmen, Madama Butterfly, I Lombardi alla prima crociata, Giovanna d’Arco. The Elixir of Love, La traviata, I due Foscari, Attila, and I masnadieri. She has been the stage director for Sarasota Opera’s Apprentice Artist Program since 2004 and has directed the Sarasota Youth Opera’s productions of Black Spider, The Hobbit, The Second Hurricane, and Britten’s The Little Sweep.
She has directed Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah and Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore for Opera Mozart in New Jersey, Lucia di Lammermoorand Tosca for New Jersey Verismo Opera and Il tabarro and Amahl and the Night Visitors for Opera North. She has been a concert and operatic performer and can be seen in the film Moonstruck in the role of Mimì in La bohème.
